2011 Year in Review

2011 was a great year for CESD.  It was our first full year operating under the new organizational structure.  CESD responded to 844 calls for service, including 147 fires and 364 EMS calls.  This is an increase from a total of 763 in 2010.

We are thankful that there was only one major loss event; an apartment fire on 11/08/11 at the Willowbend Apartments on Bammel N Houston.  Upon arrival, fire crews found fire coming from an apartment that was quickly spreading into the attic and adjacent apartment units.  The fire was ultimately contained and only 4 apartments sustained fire damage.

In addition to responding to emergencies, CESD also interacted with 2,713 children and 2,530 adults, conducting fire prevention activities, station tours, and hosting birthday parties at the fire station.  CESD firefighters also participated in a total 4,420 hours of training.

CESD would like to remind everyone to change your smoke detector battery when you change your clocks ahead on March 11, 2012.
